The moyennisation of a company can be defined like the process of constitution of vast a Middle-class reducing the extreme positions in the social Stratification and bringing closer the modes and the standards of living.

In other words, social cleavages attenuate, and the intermediate social layer increases.

This tendency is thus the result of:

  • reduction in the socio-economic differences between the individuals (returned, leisures, Consumption)
  • the homogenization of the behaviors (concerning manners, the lifestyle)
  • the increase in the intermediate categories (as a Socioprofessional category)

In practice

In the past, the moyennisation was supported by the Second world war and the disappearance of the shareholders in the Pays developed S. This movement continued during the Glorious Thirty, where the general rise of the standard of living partially gummed the social inequalities.

The passage of a state of Developing country or emergent country with that of Pays developed is accompanied sometimes by the emergence of an average big class.

However, the Economic development can also be related to a rise of the inequalities, with the fast enrichment of a small portion of the population (China, Brésil, Russia, etc) simultaneously to a strong growth of GDP.

History

Alexis de Tocqueville was the first to foresee the emergence of a moyennisation of the company, this one being according to him closely related to their democratization.

Henri Mendras will take again this concept by modelling it by means of the Toupie of Mendras.
