Moving sphere

A moving sphere (expression employed at the 18th century) indicates a whole of Cercle S or portions of circles appearing the Solar system in whole or part. It is moving when the stars represented (the Sun and its Planet S) are animated either manually, or by a mechanism of clock industry.

These moving spheres try to simulate the reality with a didactic aim or of demonstration.

History

Characters illustrated themselves by building moving spheres as Jean Pigeon (1654 - 1739) the first which built them in France or Antide January (1751 - 1835) which carried them out with an incredible precision.
