Movida

The Movida ( Movida madrileña ) is the name given by certain authors to the movement Culture L creative which touched the whole of the Spain during the end of the period of the Spanish Democratic transition, to the beginning of the Années 1980, after the death of the dictator Franco.

Related by the desire of revival of Spanish youth and the emergence of new actors to the artistic and cultural plan, it contributed to the modernization and the integration of the Spanish company in democratic Europe .

Origins and influences

Movida falls under the context of the process of democratization and liberalization of the end of the pro-Franco dictatorship receiving the influence of the contemporary European cultural movements like the British New wave or the movement Punk.

The initial movement started with Madrid, around the district of Malasaña, supported on the political plan by the mayor Enrique Tierno Galván (emblematic figure of the democratic transition) from where denomination of the movida Madrileña . It however quickly gains other cities of the country, in particular Barcelona, Bilbao and Vigo.

Characteristics

The movida is personified by the figures of the Musique, of the Cinéma, the Design, the Graphisme or the Cartoon, but it is also felt in other aspects of the culture, like in social manners.

Music

Cinema

The realizer Pedro Almodóvar or the actress Victoria Abril incarnates the spirit of Movida through comedies where are illustrated the release of manners, vitality, the joy and the exubérance of these years which mark the end of the pro-Franco dictatorship in Spain.

Cartoon

The cartoon underground develops, and the review El Víbora publishes daring cartoons carried out by Dessinateur S of avant-garde: Ceesepe, Javier Mariscal or Nazario.

Photographs

The photographer inhabitant of Madrid Ouka Leele with which the images with the colors saturated influenced European photography.

Cultural revival

A visible effect on youth was the revival of the night life with the development of the cultural and festive meeting places (bars, pubs, art galleries or clubs of dance) which allow the expression of young creators.
