Movement of the civic rights
The Mouvement of the civic rights usually refers to the movement éponyme in the United States in the years 1950-60, under the pressure of which the racial segregation was abolished, while the American Blacks obtained the pleasure of their Civic right elementary (in particular by the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act). In a direction more extended, one can qualify " movement of the rights civiques" all Social movement aiming at obtaining, in one way or another, the respect of the civic rights assigned to each Citizen of a country. In this direction, the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (Association of the civic rights of Northern Ireland), founded in 1967, was inspired explicitly by the methods of the movement states-unien of the civic rights. The fight against the Apartheid in South Africa can also be included/understood like such, just as the the First feminism which concentrated on the fight for the political equality.
If the initial objective of the fights for the civic rights referred directly to obtaining those, these movements all, more or less, were crossed by social and cultural problems. Thus, the the Second feminism east concentrated on the social Domination (not directly " politique"), Martin Luther King itself evolved to an attention greater range with the social problems, while the Black Panther Party asserted the " openly; social question and raciale" like privileged field of its intervention. Thus, a certain number of Activiste S of the movement of the civic rights evolved, following the example Stokely Carmichael, either to more radicality, or towards an extension of the topics approached, going well beyond only legal questions and " politiques".
In that, these movements also were called Nouveaux social movements (New Social Movements) and are very close to the " New Left " (or New Left), which were worried not only fights against the political domination or the economic exploitation, but also of fights ecologist S, or of " fights of Subjectivation " (Michel Foucault) or " Empowerment ").
