Movement of Peace
The Mouvement of Peace is an organization Pacifiste which falls under the promotion of the culture of Paix initiated by UNO. It was created the shortly after the Second world war by large currents of the Résistance, in particular those of inspiration Communiste, Christian woman or of free thinker, directly related to the world Mouvement of the partisans of the peace, of which the goal is the fight for peace.
History
Origin
The origin of the Movement of Peace is to be sought in the creation of the " Combatants of Liberté". It is the communist representative Charles Tillon who, at the end of 1947, lance a call to create an organization intended “to support the republican mode and to prohibit the return of Fascism and dictatorship” (in. " A lawsuit of Moscow with Paris" ). Consequently, on February 22nd, 1948, an about sixty personalities resulting from Resistance found the Combatants of Freedom, under the direction of Yves Farge, fellow traveller of the French Communist party.After the Congress of the people for the peace of Wroclaw of 1948, the world Movement of the partisans of peace is constituted and encouraged with the creation of national committees. In France, Charles Tillon proceeds to the transformation of the Combatants of Freedom moving of Peace.
Years of Cold war
This period is richest in actions, influence and manpower. The Movement takes part in the World congress of the Partisans of Peace to Paris in 1949 which creates the World council of Peace. Supporting the Call of Stockholm, the Movement organizes in France a vast campaign of support, which will collect million signature, of which that of the young person Jacques Chirac. This countryside will mark the apogee of the popularity of the Movement in France. It will prevent a new use of the atomic weapon by the United States at the time of the Guerre of Korea.The Movement is radicalized then, and loses of its influence in the masses. Several campaigns follow one another, against the war of Korea in 1950 (Manifestation against Ridgway), or against German rearmament within CED, starting from 1952.
Other campaigns
The year 1956 mark the beginning of the Destalinization and upsets the communist landscape in Europe. The Movement of Peace loses its vitality, in particular after the countryside against the Guerre of Algeria.The flame is revived at the time of the Guerre of Vietnam, then with the business of the Euromissiles in the years 1980.

Actions
The Movement of Peace is most important today pacifist ONG with nearly 150 local committees. It frequently coordinates the coalitions anti-war and is strongly invested near the young people. The international day of the Peace of the September 21st mark one of its annual key periods.Association seems to know a renewal of mobilization since the Second war in Iraq and the development of the mobilizations altermondialists. She plays a big role in the organization of the European Social forums, and she mobilized herself against the war in Iraq, against the situation in Chetchnia and Israel, and against the use of the nuclear weapons, with a campaign around the Traité nuclear non-proliferation. She asks a reduction of the budget of Defense. For a few year, at the time of urban violences, it has promoted the idea of " committees for a culture of the paix" in the districts.
Press agency
After more than fifty years of existence (first number in October 1951) and of 500 numbers, the review Combat for Peace changes name east becomes Planet Peace as from March 2005.
