Movement for the autonomy of Kabylie

The Mouvement for the autonomy of Kabylie (MAK) made its appearance in June 2001, at the moment when the Kabylie was confronted with an serious attack born of the assassination by gendarmes Algérie NS of a young person Kabyle named Massinissa Guermah in the enclosure of their police station.

This assassination was followed the violent confrontations, called by the continuation “black Printemps”, between the young people and the gendarmes who killed during these confrontations nearly one hundred twenty-five of them. They were the subject also of many judgments, of which that of the Algerian League of defense of the human rights. Since, the Gendarmerie, army corps Algerian, was banished of Kabylie.
