Movement Genevese citizens

The Mouvement Genevese citizens (MCG) is a Political party Canton of Geneva.

History

It is founded the June 6th 2005 by Georges Letellier (democratic Union of the center) and Eric Stauffer (Liberal party) for the cantonal elections and adopts for slogan “Geneva and the Genevese initially”. He officially states not to be neither of left, nor of right. The October 9th, the MCG obtains 7,73% of the votes, which enables him to obtain 9 seats with the Grand the Council. Part of its elected officials result from the Genevese public office (in particular of the police force as regards Roger Golay). The November 13rd, the party aspires to without success a seat with the Council of State with the candidature of Eric Stauffer.

The March 25th 2007, at the time of the municipal elections, the MCG introduces 91 candidates out of 9 communes and obtains elected officials in the three most important communes of the canton after the town of Geneva, namely Lancy, Vernier and Onex. The April 29th, the MCG launches two candidates to the communal executive of Onex and Vernier, forcing with a second round in the two communes, fact historical in the canton of Geneva. The party represented by Eric Stauffer is beaten in Onex but Thierry Cerruti carries it in the triangular one in Vernier. However, this last election is suspended following three complaints, the candidate being accused of electoral Fraud, of collecting of votes and infringement to the law on the elections and voting.

Political position

The speech of the MCG is compared to the ideas of the Extrême right-hand side since it draws up a direct link between the presence of the workers French (Frontalier S) in Geneva and the Unemployment rate, in particular at the time of the Votation on the extension of the held free-circulation of the people the September 25th 2006.

It is placed in the cantonal Parliament with the extreme right-hand side, the center with Onex and the Extreme left in Vernier and Lancy.

Direction

Following divergences between the elected officials and Georges Letellier, this last leaves the party in the course of mandate, officially to devote itself to its professional obligations, and remains appointed independent. The January 31st 2006, Georges Jost, former deputy of the Vigilant , is indicated with the presidency to replace it. A directing office is made up with Eric Stauffer, Roger Golay and Claude Jeanneret.

The deputy Sandra Borgeaud, previously parliamentary assistant of an elected official of the Left Work (communist) to the National council, is elected at the office of the Large Council against the will of her party. She is excluded from it the November 22nd 2006.
