Moval
Moval is a common French, located in the department of the Territoire of Belfort and the area Franche-Comté.
The commune depends on the Canton of Danjoutin. Its code INSEE is 90073. It is located on the N19 road which connects Delle to Belfort, at 8km of the latter. Its territory, which covers only 116 hectares, is crossed by the Belfort-Delle railway. In 1803 its population was of 66 inhabitants, it was of 63 in 1962 and 250 with the census of 1999. This spectacular increase is due to the proximity of the towns of Belfort and Montbeliard which became easily accessible to Movalois thanks to popularization from the car.
Moval is quoted for the first time in the old documents at the date of 1196 under name Menuval . The village depends then on the parish of Vézelois. It is attached to that of Meroux in 1819.
July 15th 1972 at January 1st 1997, Moval was removed and attached to the common neighbor of Meroux (code INSEE 90068), to form the new commune of Meroux-Moval (with code INSEE 90068). This total fusion of common was cancelled for purpose of January 1st, 1997.
