Moustafa Tlas
Moustafa Tlas or Mustafa Tlass (in Arabic: rear RTL مصطفىطلاس) is a politician and military Syria N born in 1932. born in the locality from Rasten close to the historical city to Hims
He is the father of Nahed Ojjeh, widow of the adviser of the Saoudi Minister for Defense Akram Ojjeh.
Tlas follows a military career and becomes a close relation of Hafez el-Assad. One year after the coup d'etat which brought Hafez el-Assad to the capacity in 1970, Tlas is named vice chief of Staff of the Syrian armed forces. He becomes shortly after Minister for Defense.
Contrary to the majority of the people named by Hafez el-Assad in the military apparatus, Tlas is not Musulman Alaouite but sunnite.
In the years 1970, Mustafa Tlas modernizes and equips the Syrian army with the assistance with the Union of the Soviet socialist republics. At the time of the coup d'etat of Rifaat el-Assad in 1984, Tlas lines up in the camp of Hafez el-Assad.
