Moussy is a common French, located in the department of the Marne and the area Champagne-Ardenne. The inhabitants are called Moussytiers.
History
The first historical traces of Moussy go up in 1110. At that time, the village is called Monceiacum and the inhabitants depend on the abbey of Charmoye. About 1222, the name evolves to that of Muissi and of small dwellings appear in Conardins, the Cabin Plonk or the Cabin Turbaned. The cubry supplies a mill with barks and a mill to be tanned. The center is then with the gold Mount. In 1789, Moussy was included/understood in the election of Epernay. It depended, from the spiritual point of view, of the parish of Montfélix. For the burials, the villagers take " the way of the morts" who leads to the cemetery under the church of Chavot. That of Moussy is built about 1865.
The recent history of the village is very related to the great dates of the vineyard. Thus the vine growers marnais believed a long time that will phylloxéra it could not attack their vineyard. This plant louse which pricks and sucks the roots of the vine until making them rot is however announced on August 18th, 1892 to Moussy.
April 12th, 1911, at the time of the revolt of the vine growers, a group of rioters moves on Épernay by singing the Champagne one, on the air of the International one. There are among them vine growers of Moussy. In the passing, they ransacked in Pierry the establishment of a trader. While arriving at Épernay, at the beginning of the afternoon, they make in the same way in a conveyer and a notorious defrauder. A street recalls today that Mr. Paul Ganon, originating in Moussy, was victim of the repression of the authorities.
With the beginning of the year 1900, many " ways of fer" buildings connect the villages through France. The network which passes to Moussy until 1937 is managed by the company of the Railroads of the Suburbs of Rheims (C.B.R.).
