Mouriès is located at the foot of the chain of the Alpilles, between the communes of Aureille and Maussane-les-Alpilles.
History
The Roman name of the commune is Terriciæ . This name indicates the Roman oppidum located at a few hundred meters in the north of the current village, on the locality “Cases of Fool”.

The commune of Mouriès is especially known for its Olive oil. Less “media” that Nyons, they is however the first olive-growing commune of France. Its orchards are composed of various varieties which give to the olive oil its particular savor. Oil profits of course from AOC Olive oil of the Valley of the Beam-of-Provence and is carried out by first cold pressure green olives. It is thus an oil extra-virgin with the herbaceous notes which you will be able to taste with the foot of the Alpilles.
The commune of Mouriès is also known for its sites of Escalade. Many ways, of all difficulties for the majority are located in the solid mass known as of the “Cases of JeanJean” where the excitation of climbs mingles with a fabulous landscape.
