Mourad Bey

Mourad Bey (1750 - 1801) was a chief Mamelouk who illustrated himself in Egypt by being opposed to the army Bonaparte during the Campagne of Egypt. Its true name is Murad; “Bey” is an honorary title granted by the Turkish habit of then. After its defeat with the Battle of the Pyramids, he flees in High-Egypt, organizing a short campaign of will guérillera which opposes it, lasting one year, with the Général Desaix. In 1800, Murad Bey signs peace with the Cairo with the General Kléber. He dies of the bubonic plague at the time of this voyage.
