Mounts of Fair
The Monts of Fair are the first buttresses of the Massif Central to exceed 400 meters of altitude, while coming from the Atlantique. They train the Western part of the Mounts of Walk.
It is a small territory of the department of the High-Vienna, of about fifteen kilometers is in west and of approximately 6 km of north in the south, to about thirty kilometers in the North-West of Limoges, in the west of the department.
The solid mass culminates with 515 meters between the localities of Charlet and Bétoulle, on the commune of Blond. It is with horse on the common high-Vienneses of Blond, Montrol-Sénard, Mortemart, Cieux, Vaulry and Chamboret.
The landscape primarily consists of wood of leafy trees and meadows around the villages. The Mounts of Fair are known to shelter many menhirs and dolmens of the Neolithic era but also of many granitic chaos which make the charm of this area. These erratic stones bear evocative names: rocks with the fairies, hones mushroom, stone with sacrifice… One of these chaos, the Rochers of Puychaud mark the border between language of oc and language of oil.
