The Mountain is a type of Locomotive to vapor whose Essieu X have the following configuration (from the front to the back):
- a carrying Bogie to 2 Axle X
- 4 driving axles
- an axle or a carrying Bissel

- 241 in coding of continental Europe.
These machines were built with an aim of having machines of traction combining high speed and great power of traction. Only the 241 D succeeded there.
The type Moutain was not very widespread in France, only three old networks made some build and the SNCF was satisfied with the “unified” series 241 P :
