Mount the Sinai School off Medicine
The Mount the Sinai School off Medicine is a medical school of the Université of New York (New York University or NYU) located on the Fifth Avenue, in the district of East Harlem, with New York. Mount the Sinai occupies four blocks of houses along Central Park on Carnegie Hill (historical quarters of New York known for shopping, the museums and the restaurants). As a principal medical center of the city, it provides a teaching of exception, care of quality and fact of the medical research.
History
The hospital of the Sinai Mount was founded in 1852 pennies the name " Jews' Hospital in the City off New York " (literally, Jewish hospital of the town of New York). But it was necessary one century more before one medical school is created with the Sinai Mount. With the passing of years, the Sinai Mount forged a solid reputation for the excellence of its care to the patients and its clinical research programs. The laboratories and the rooms of the Sinai Mount became places of predilection for all the students interested by the pathophysiology and the “chemistry” of the disease.In 1959, the Sinai Mount was classified 27th on all the country for the funds granted by NIH, which was completely exceptional taking into account the fact that the hospital was affiliated at no university. The schools and the medical colleges of the University Columbia, the University of New York and the Université Cornell sought to acquire the hospital of the Sinai Mount as a place of principal teaching. To maintain its dominant position in the sectors of clinical medicine and the basic research, it was decided to create the first medical school of the country to being leant at a hospital. In 1963, the Mount the Sinai School off Medicine of the Université of the Town of New York (the CUNY) opened its doors. It then became one of best the medical school of the United States, while the Hospital of the Sinai Mount gained in international notoriety for its projections in the care with the patients and its discoveries on the diseases.
At January 1st, 1998, the hospital equipment of the NYU was joined together within an autonomous entity with nonlucrative goal. They were shared with the hospital of the Sinai Mount to form the Mount the Sinai-NYU Health , an organization which chapotait the two hospitals. In parallel, the New York University School off Medicine continued to evolve/move within the university. In 1998, with the approval of the board of directors of the University of the State of New York (University off the State off New York, not to confuse with the University of State of New York), Mount the Sinai School off Medicine left the CUNY to be affiliated with the Université of New York.
