Mount Falls

The Mont Falls is the old name of the Mont Saint-Michel, before Charlemagne does not choose Saint Michel for guard of its empire at the 9th century. The new complete name was Mount-Saint-Michel-with-danger-of-the-Sea .

This choice would come from a small oratory in form of cave builds into 708 (or 710) by holy Aubert, bishop of Avranches, dedicated to the archangel Saint Michel. The remainders of this oratory were found and are still visible in the vault Our-Lady-Under-Ground, i.e. under the Nef of the Abbatiale.
