Mount-Dolphin
Mount-Dolphin is a common French, located in the department of the Hautes-Alpes and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure.
Geography
Mount-dolphin is located on a rock plate which overhang the confluence of the valleys of the Durance and of the Guil.
History
Founded in 1693 by Vauban, Mount-Dolphin is before a a whole Fortified town intended to lock the accesses of the high valley of the Durance or Guil.
A first project had been conceived by Vauban in 1679, but noncarried out. It is a raid of the duke of Savoy against the Dauphine one which decides construction of this place. Work is stopped as of October.
But it is only in 1944 that the site will know its first acts of war by a bombardment.
