Mouharram
The month of mouharram (Arab: rear RTL محرم) is the first month of the Moslem Calendrier. This month is one of most important in the Moslem calendar, in particular for the Shiites; it is not rare to read more crowned of the months (haram wanting to say crowned). It is one the four months crowned of Islam with Rajab, Dhou Al IQ `da and Dhou Al Hijja.
Events
- Fêter 1st like the Westerners celebrates is regarded as a Bidah by the orthodoxe Moslems.
- From the 2, the Chiites commemorate the massacre of the partisans of Ali to the Bataille of Kerbala (In particular Hussein Ben Ali), by the sunnites. For them, the first ten days of the month, at least, austere and are marked by the prayers and the deprivations (not of music, cinema,…). The Festival of Mouharram is organized there.
- 7, the prohibition of the access to water with Hussein by the partisans of Yazid Ier.
- the 10, the Moslems celebrate the Achoura. The exit of the Jews of the Egypt and by the Shiites only, the birthday of the martyr of Hussein.
- the 25, the fourth Shiite Imam Ali Zayn Al-Abidin is martyr.
- the 27, Mesum is martyr.
Etymology
This month is called kind because it would have been illegal to fight during this period. This term derives from the Arab term haram at the same time, meaning crowned and prohibited.
