Moudon

Moudon is a common Suisse of the Canton of Vaud, located in the District of Moudon, of which it is the Chef-lieu.

Policy

The state of the political clouts since the communal elections of February 2006 is the following:
  • Municipality: 3 radical-democratic Party, 2 Socialist party, 1 UDC, 1 Greens.
  • Town council: 21 radical-democratic Party, 11 democratic Union of the center, 9 Socialist party, 7 Greens, 7 Liberal party.

Monuments

Moudon is an old Roman city. One also finds there many monuments dating from the medieval period, in particular the old city called " old man bourg" , composed of a single street crossing a strengthened hill. It is there that are the castle of Carrouge and old prisons.

  • the Theater of the Cord which is managed by the artistic company Arc-en-Ciel whose theater company is oldest of Switzerland, founded on May 31st, 1851. The troop celebrated the 150 years of its in June existence and July 2001 while assembling a large original spectacle, the Imaginary Ballade, with 25 actors and 20 actors juniors resulting as of its workshops.

Prisons, concert hall

In Moudon, among the buildings which dominate, there is that of the old prisons. Located in the middle of the old borough, this broad ancestral masonry, now classified historic building, was initially a house deprived before being used like attic. It is only at the XIXe century that the building is transformed by the commune to become the prisons of the district of Oron. Since, it will never lose its old iron bars…

In 1976, the building is arranged in arts center for the area which gathers various associations a such theater, a workshop of dance and painting. Since 1989, the walls integrates the concert hall of the Old Prisons which will acceuillera more 250 concerts in seven years of existence. Among the first French rooms, Old Prisons one known to forge a reputation and fidéliser a public which, still today, has the memory of an exceptional room which carries all the seal of its history. Following closing of the Old Prisons and with a musical inactivity almost inexistente during more than eight years, the area was found cut down by a place by entertainment and essential culture.

In 2004, five young people moudonnois tries the bet of ressusciter the famous room broyarde. An association with nonlucrative goal, named Poly-Sound, east creates in order to manage rebatized room the simply " Prisons". Made of a team of voluntary having a musical and artistic experiment deepened, association knew to overcome all the difficulties, financial, technical, relational and ensures from now on the regular organization in concerts.

Successful bet since, three years later, the fourth season is already in preparation! Indeed, the passion noted for this kind of demonstrations, pushed the organizers to be persevered. Thanks to invaluable commune of Moudon supports, as well as French Lottery, the Prisons one been able to ensure their growth, in particular by arranging the room with fixed material.
