Motor bike Guzzi Ottocilindri

The Ottocilindri is a model of Motocyclette of competition of the Italian manufacturer Moto Guzzi.

In order to dominate the category of 500 cm ³ in the championship speed, and making evolve/move its one-cylinder, engineer Giulio Carcano decides, in 1954, to produce a new engine. After having examined all possible architectures, it selected one eight cylinders out of V, for its potential power and its compactness. Each cylinder is fed by a Carburateur Dell' Orto of 20. Each slope of four carburettors draws the gasoline in a tank located on the left side. This configuration posed problems of food during the phases of acceleration and braking of the motor bike. This nuisance is repaired in 1957 by the adaptation of carburettors Dell' Orto 21 mm in diameter, with separate tanks.

V8 is used for the first time in race with the hands of the pilot Ken Kavanagh, on the circuit of Imola.

The factory decides to stop the competition in 1958 and puts a term at the career of Ottocilindri.
