Motomarine

The term motomarine is used to indicate, in Canada (notam. in Quebec), a personal nautical vehicle, with one or two places, whose position of control is connected with that of the motor bike and who allows to move quickly on water, and, indicates, by extension, the sport which is practiced with such a nautical vehicle.

The person who practices the motomarine is called motomarinist (n.m., N. F.) or sometimes motomarinier (n.m.) and motomarinière (n.f.).

The term motomarine is recommended, in Quebec, to replace the use of English brand names Jet ski , Sea doo and Jet bike . In Europe, one employs the terms scooter of the seas or scooter of sea which were not regarded as synonymous because they are not employed in Quebec where the term motomarine was essential quickly in the use. In addition, since 2000, one notices the use of the watery term motor bike European French . In Quebec, the motomarine term was the subject of an official recommendation by the Québécois Office of the French language.
