Mother Brain

Mother Brain is an enemy of Samus Aran, in the play Metroid on BORN, in its republication Metroid Zero Mission on Game Boy Advance and in Super Metroid on SNES; its design was carried out by Hiroji Kiyotake.

Biography

Mother Brain is in the beginning a creation of Chozos apparently, when the latter have summers massacred on Zebes, the Pirates of Space were used for their turn of Mother Brain.

Mother Brain is appeared as an enormous brain locked up in a tank, and equipped with only one eye. It is the thinking head of the Pirates; and is assisted by its two generals, Ridley and Kraid. It remains permanently on Zebes, supervising each actions of the Pirates thanks to cameras. To fill its weak attacks and defenses, it was made build by the Pirates a ultra-protected sector, named Tourian, equipped with defensive turrets and acid; what will not prevent Samus Aran from putting the feet at it.

Learning the discovery from Metroids on the planet SR-388, Mother Brain makes steal by Ridley a stock of Metroid, with an aim of being made an army of it. The Galactic request then with Samus Aran, chasseuse Federation of premium which passed its childhood on Zebes, to find the stock of Metroid and to destroy Mother Brain. Keep silent Samus Kraid and Ridley, then goes in the Tourian sector. There, it exterminates all Metroids which is much wilder than Mother Brain thought it, and which has escaped with its control. It kills then Mother Brain by destroying its vital structures, Zeebetites, then flees.

But Ridley survived and, using the remainder of its troops, it rebuilt new Tourian on Zebes. It stole then the last alive larva Metroid on the Research station Cerès, in order to use its energy for réssuciter Mother Brain. This last hastened to recreate new Metroids, to tighten a trap with Samus, come on Zebes récupérrer the Larva Metroid. But Samus was more powerful than he had thought it and the latter arrived until him, with the assistance of the Larva Metroid. Mother Brain leaves its ultimate weapon then: it is in fact made graft a giant cybernetic body armed with a surpuissant laser, and well thus hopes to regulate its account with Samus once and for all. However, the Larva Metroid sacrifices itself to save its " Mère" and the famous laser gives him, with which Samus destroys Mother Brain completely.

Anecdote

In the years 1970, whereas Hiroshi Yamauchi directed Nintendo of an iron hand, the employees of the firm (which sought at the time diversifying in the field of the leisure) had taken the practice to give the nickname of " Mother Brain" in Yamauchi. It is thus comes there the name from the most known Boss of the saga Metroid.
