Having a minaret, the mosque of Évry is one of largest the mosque of Europe, only exceeded by the mosque of Rome or that the mosque ahmadi of London. An arts center is associated with the building.
It is at the beginning of the Années 1980 that a process of collection is set up to finance the project of Mosquée to Évry. The modesty of the funds gathered involves a search for financing by the countries of the Gulf. It is the intervention of the Saoudi sheik Akram Aadja which makes it possible to carry out the financial montage. The first stone posed in 1984, work starts in 1985. Interior decoration, for its part, was financed by the Foundation Hassan II. Opened ten years later in 1995, the same year as the Cathedral of Évry, the mosque is the work of the architect Henri Baudot which constructed several buildings in Algérie and in Tunisia.
