Moshe Gil

Moshe Gil (1921 -) is a Historien Israélien which specialized in the interactions between the Islam and the Juifs, in particular the history of the Palestine under the Islamic domination and the Jewish merchants such as the Radhanites.

Gil is professor emeritus of the Chaim Rosenberg School off Jewish Studies with the Université of Tel-Aviv. It is titular Chaire Joseph and Ceil Mazer in History of the Jews in the Moslem countries . It gained the Prix Israel in 1998 for its work analyzing 846 fragments of documents of the Genizah of Cairo and for its work on the role of the Jewish merchants in the development of the medieval company.
