Moshe Feldenkrais
Moshe Feldenkrais (born in 1904 in Ukraine - died in 1984 with Tel-Aviv) was a British Physicien of Ukrainian origin , which was one of the introducers of the Judo in France in the Années 1930 and developed, in the Années 1950, a not-conventional method of care - that it will call “ functional Intégration ” - based on the meticulous observation of oneself.
Biography
At the 14 years age he emigrates in Palestine. From 18 to 28 years he lives in Tel-Aviv where he works, continues his studies and practical the Football. He is wounded then with the Genou.
Moshe Feldenkrais arrives at Paris in 1928 where he studies physics, mathematics, mechanics and electricity. It obtains a diploma for the occupation of Doctor of physical sciences and a diploma for the occupation of engineer in mechanics and electricity. In 1938, it works with Frederic Joliot-Curie, of which he is assistant.
Moshe Feldenkrais meets Jigorō Kanō at the time of conferences given by the founder of the Judo at the time of two stays in France in 1933 and 1934. It starts to practice this sport, that it contributes to introduce in France, and becomes one of the first black belts of Judo in France.
With its invitation, Mikinosuke Kawaishi leaves London to come to teach the judo in France. Impassioned by this sport, Feldenkrais founds in September 1936 the Jiu-Jitsu Club of France , whose Jigorō Kanō is the honorary president. He writes two books on the judo.
In 1940 when German invades Paris, Moshe Feldenkrais takes a boat for the England. He works then for the British Admiralty. He would have belonged to the team which develops the Sonar.
He continues at the same time the practice and the teaching of the judo. He starts to very strongly be interested in human development and the mode of training of the children, inspired partly by the observation of the children in the pediatric cabinet of his wife, Yona Rubenstein.
After a serious accident on its knee already wounded, Moshe Feldenkrais is seen proposing an intervention whose chances of success are estimated at 50%.
He prefers to avoid the intervention and studies all that milked with health and the cure: anatomy physiology, neurophysiology, psychotherapy, exercises of rehabilitation, spiritual practices, yoga, hypnosis, acupuncture. Feldenkrais succeeds in going again without needing operation. It takes again even its practice of the judo. After months of meticulous observation and exploration of very small movements, it would have redécouvert and refined the process of training used by the young children to acquire walk. According to him, the fact of becoming aware of how one bulge can be a key to even look after itself to better function.
Later a friend who suffers from the back, asks to him whether the same process could not help it. Thus Feldenkrais would have discovered the effectiveness of its method. It thus develops a method, through the touch and the movement, to facilitate the return to health and the training which it will call later: Functional Integration . It gives lessons of then Awakening through the Movement .
In 1950 Feldenkrais goes back to Tel-Aviv. He becomes the first director of the electronic department of the Israeli army. Little time after it would have been requested to deal with the Prime Minister Ben Gourion who suffers from chronic evil of back and respiratory problems. The health of Ben Gourion would have improved in an astonishing way and would have made the reputation of Moshe Feldenkrais. It starts to teach its method during the Années 1950 and 60.
It continues then with the the United States during 11 years. It thus forms a great number of experts with San Francisco then with Amherst, in the Massachusetts.
