Mortemart
Mortemart ( Mòrta Mar in Occitan) is a common French, located in the department of the High-Vienna and the area the Limousin.

- the Monts of Fair are the first buttresses of the Massif Central to exceed 400 meters of altitude, while coming from the Atlantique.
- In the Forest of Brotonne (Seine-Maritime), there exists a round of Mortemart by which secondary road 131 passes. Hunt from September to April every Wednesday and Saturday.
History
The seigniory of Mortemart was born before the year millet and the village developed around the old feudal mound then stone castle. The field of Mortemart passed by marriage in the family of Rochechouart at the beginning of the 13th century. A few years later, will be born the house from Mortemart which gave large characters to France: Francoise Athénaïs de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Marchioness of Montespan (favorite of Louis {{XIV}}); Louis-Victor, general of the galères of the Sun king and Marie-Clementine known as Manuela, feminist sculptor.
In 1330, the cardinal Pierre Gauvain, native of the village, changed the face of Mortemart completely. He founded three monasteries: Augustins, Carmelite friars and Carthusian monks (disappeared at the next century), a hospital and a college. Nowadays, the monks left but the buildings survived, as well as the old houses which make the charm of this village.

the castle of the Dukes (15th century): this small main building presenting two round towers was built by the lords of Mortemart who were not yet dukes. Rise for this reason was not made that under Louis {{XIV}} is two centuries after the construction of the castle.
- the church of Augustins (13th century): today parish church, it is of a great austerity. It contains splendid stalls of the 15th century of blazing style; the chorus is decorated with a splendid retable baroque.
- the convent of Augustins (18th century): true small castle, this building monastic was the place of residence of the last canons of the commune, it was built in the fields of the architect Joseph Brousseau.
- the convent of the Carmelite friars (17th century): facing the church of Augustins, it is of a great sobriety but preserves many interesting elements like its traditional gate and its staircase.
- the market: located at the center of the royal place, it is entirely out of wood.
