Morienval is a common French, located in the department of the Oise and the area Picardy on Right Bank of the valley of the Automne at the south of the Forêt of Compiegne. The inhabitants are called Morienvalois. The village clings to the slopes of the abrupt depression of a large calcareous plate.
At the 9th century, one strikes Monnaie in the name of the village. What lets think that there was a market.
The name of Morienval could come from Morini Vallis. Morini is the name of a tribe Celte of the North-West of the Gaulle that César often evoked. In 1858, at Longueil-Holy-Marie (60), a treasure of 33 Statère S of the type “Morini” was updated. In 1944,15 other identical parts were found with Largny-on-Fall (02). However Longueil, Morienval and Largny are on a straight line which is inclined of West in East. Morini passed by Valois and the valley of the Fall, during their retirement towards the North of Gaulle, after their defeat in front of the Roman troops. If they sowed statères in their haste, this name could evoke the place where some Morinis would have been established, but why not the place where a great part of them would have been decimated.
