Morgan Motor Company is a British Car manufacturer specialized in the production of sporting cars. He is characterized by his very family aspect: the company was directed by a grandson of the founder until in 2003, date of its death. Moreover, Morgan does not use an assembly line. A broad part of manufacture is still done with the hand. Since 1936, the cars are built according to the same process, then running in automotive engineering. On a steel frame, composed of two stringer beams and several cross-pieces, a frame in Frêne, itself covered with the body is attached. They are the last cars to be always built according to this diagram. In spite of this old method, Morgan meet the standards of " crash landing-test"!
History
The company was created in 1910 by H.F.S. Morgan, an engineer of Great Western Railway. In 1906, it resigned and bought a garage with Malvern Link, in the Worcestershire. There, it mounted for the pleasure a car, first Morgan Runabout, which was characterized already by its great lightness (200kg). Having accepted encouraging comments, it launched out in a production to small scales. In 1910, it started in the automobile race. Until 1929, Morgan Motor Company produced only small cars with three wheels. In 1936, the company launched its first 4/4, i.e. a vehicle equipped with four wheels and four cylinders. If this model were not a great success, the More-Furnace which replaced it in 1950 made brilliances beginnings in rally. In 1959, HFS died, leaving the company to his/her Peter son who continued the activity by maintaining the tradition family.
