Mordves

The Mordves are a Peuple established in the west of the the Volga, which occupies a territory which extends from the Ukraine to the Central Asia.

Demography

Mordves constitute, with 1,1 million people, most important of the Finno-ugric people of Russia. They however form only 33% of the population of the République of Mordovie, a republic of the Russian federation. Only 28% of Mordves reside in Mordovie.

Languages

Mordves divide according to two linguistic branches: the Erzia and the Mokchas .

History

Dominated by the Tatars of Kazan until the XV {{E}} century, they were disseminated in small groups towards the east at the time of the arrival of the Russian .
