Morane-Saulnier

Morane-Saulnier is a aeronautical Constructeur French.

The company was created under the name of “Public limit company of the Morane-Saulnier Airplanes” the October 10th 1911 with Puteaux by the pioneers of aviation Leon Morane, Robert Morane and Raymond Saulnier (former collaborator of Louis Blériot).

In 1913, Marcel Brindejonc of Moulinais carries out a turn of Europe on Morane. This exploit is followed a few months later by the crossing of the the Mediterranean by Roland Garros on a monoplane ms - type H 60 cv in 7:53 mn.

In April 1914, Raymond Saulnier deposits the patent of a device of shooting through the Hélice, which is assembled in series on the model Morane-Saulnier Type NR. the French first escadrilles of the army are equipped with Morane-Saulnier and Georges Guynemer takes down his first victories over Morane.

The company was repurchased by Southern Aviation (ancestor of the Aérospatiale) in 1966 and was replaced by the Socata with Tarbes.
