Moon Knight

Origins

It is initially as a supporting character that it appears in number 32 of Werewolf by Night. According to this episode, Moon Knight is the creation of a secret criminal organization, the Committee. Recruited, involved and equipped with equipment (costume, weapons, helicopter, etc) the American mercenary Marc (spelled Mark then) Spector has the role of capturing a Loup-garou. But the character so popular that it was been entitled to his own adventures where its origins were rewritten. This inconsistency was " réglée" in the episode n°4 of the first series of Moon Knight. In France, it is in the n°2 of the series Moon Knight published by cd. Aredit (in the episode the committee of the 5 ) that this problem was dealt with.

Wire of a rabbi, Marc Spector becomes after a difficult childhood, a not very scrupulous mercenary and of very high level having like only friend only the pilot of helicopter Jean-Paul Duchamp (called " frenchie").

At the time of a mission (initially intended for éradiquer a pocket of resistance) close to an Egyptian border under the orders to the Bushman mercenary, then plundering of an Egyptological forwarding, Marc Spector is exceeded by the fatal madness of its owner and revolts tale him. Severely beaten at the time of a singular combat with naked hands, it is abandoned in the desert where it dies (or at least is diagnosed like such following an absence of palpitations).

Returned with Marlène (become his/her partner) and with “Frenchie” with New York (in a manor of Long Island), it is established under the new identity of Steven Grant financial famous of Wall Street.

It also creates the identity of Jake Lockley a taxi driver who trails in the low districts in order to collect information on the world of the crime. More in sleep, its old life and its identity of Marc Spector enable him to keep the contact with many spy networks and the world of the mercenaries.

But especially, marked by remorses related to the crimes perpetrated at the time of its old life, it leaves during the night to fight the crime under the name and the appearance of Moon Knight, the avenger of the shade.

War civilian

At the time of the crossover Civil War , Moon Knight remains neutral. Captain America does not want him in its camp because of its heavy passed from vigilant brutal, and Iron Man wants to capture it because he judges it psychopathe.

A new series…

A new series (v.4), whose only first arc (6 episodes) was published in French, started in 2006.

The first story-arc, " The bottom" the character starts again, making him face his interior demons and be raised of a certain forfeiture. Konshu appears to him under the features of Bushman, which it overcame and mutilated (tearing off the skin of the face to him). It is the entity which forces it to take again its role of night avenger. One discovers there also The Profile, kind to profile amoral working for the Committee which seeks to be avenged for the Knight.

In the second story-arc, it finds there the cyborg Midnight, its old adversary, returned among deaths and tries to be mended with Marlene.

Characteristics of the superman

It is a combatant of elite (former boxer, old marine and old of the C.I.A.) trained with many techniques of naked combat with hand, of handling of weapons and military strategies, it can moreover drive any vehicle. It is also a gymnaste of exceptional level, and it controls methods of self-control (yoga).

Combined

Marlène Alraune : Partner of Steven Grant (Marc Spector), it assists it in a remarkable way (thanks to its qualities of detective and an unquestionable aptitude for the combat) in her role of Moon Knight. Although having attended the " résurrection" of Marc Spector, she believes neither in the god khonshu, nor the reality of her resurrection. She less and less supports the multiple identities of Marc Spector and would like that he gives up them to live under the only identity of Steven Grant.

Jean-Paul Duchamp known as frenchie : Pilot of helicopter (amongst other things) of very high level, it is nearest friendly and confidant to Marc Spector whom it knows since the last years to traverse the world as mercenaries.

Lady Scarlet (Scarlet Fasinera): Intending itself formerly has to become nun, it had to give up it by love. However, since the day when it was forced to kill out of its own hands her doped only son, it is animated of a terrible desire of revenge which transformed it into vigilant. Armed with a crossbow, it tracks and kills the criminals who are on his way.

Enemies

Raoul Bushman: Sanguinary mercenary, it is with the head of a commando which sows with the liking of the contract, death that and there on the sphere. Former employer of Marc Spector, he is also the very first enemy of Moon Knight. Expert in handling of weapon, combat with naked hands and military strategy. During the last series, a flashback watch that an ultimate combat opposed the two enemies, leaving Moon Knight mutilated and died Bushman, disfigured.

Morpheus (Robert Markham): Reached of an extremely rare and incurable disease (within the framework of the cartoon) which prevents it from sleeping, it can - grace to its subconscious to generate ebony energy which allows him illusions in the spirit of the others in the form of dream. Crossfire (William Cross-country race): Old agent of the expert C.I.A. in practice interrogation which developed with his/her friend, a technology of washing of brain using the ultrasounds. Betraying the C.I.A., it created a " entreprise" specialized in the field of the crime.

Shadowknight (Randall Spector): Brother of Marc Spector who had joined it with the C.I.A. Betraying (as Crossfire) the agency by selling weapons with the two camps implied in a business in Italy. Killing LISA, the partner of the time of her brother because she had discovered her plans, it was tracked by Marc Spector inflicting wounds to him which caused disorders psychotics. Later, it returned under the name of shadowknight and fought his brother with an aim of taking its place as Moon Knight to him.

Moon Knight vs Batman

Moon Knight is with, inter alia, Nighthawk (asserted pastiche pertaining to the universe Marvel comics), the Owl (Watchmen), even Daredevil (blind man and equipped with a direction radar like truths bat) is one of the many supermen strongly inspired by the character of Batman. However, the knight of the moon is that which with Daredevil best succeeded in gaining a popularity, then a clean universe (increasingly distant from that of Batman).

Resemblances

Like the dispenser of justice of Gotham, Moon Knight acts mainly harms it, incarnates the fear for good number of criminals, has a vast arsenal of gadgets and a vehicle with the effigy of its emblem (the Moon) and as a civilian plays the billionaires philanthropists.

Differences

Moon Knight is distinguished however from Batman by its psychology: if both post a rather dark character, the reasons are very different. Indeed the Knight of the Moon is very marked by his childhood, his father having rejected it because he considered it responsible for dead for his mother, who died by putting it at the world, and the crimes which he committed as a mercenary.

Moreover Mark Spector maintains a particular relation with the Konshu god who makes of him his misadventure on Earth.
