Monument of the heroes éponymes

The oldest references to the monument of the heroes éponymes can be found at Aristophane, in the years -420, whereas the current monument is dated from the years -330.

The building testifies to the significance of the reforms of Clisthène. The monument of the IVe front century J. - C. consists of a long base comprising of the statues in Bronze, representing the ten heroes éponymes new tribes of Clisthène.

The building also fulfilled a practical function since one posted useful informations with the various tribes there, in lower part of their hero éponyme corresponding. Moreover, more general information there was posted.

Later modifications were made with the hellenistic time and Roman.
