Montsinéry-Tonnegrande

Montsinéry-Tonnegrande is a common French of DOM-ROM of the Guyana. It was called Tonnegrande-Montsinéry of 1969 to 1994.

Geography

The commune is made of two distinct boroughs: Montsinéry and Tonnégrande (of French: thunder thunders).

This commune is large by its surface, but small by the number of its inhabitants.

Since 1981, TDF built there, on request of the government (at the time, TDF is public domain), a whole of four transmitters short waves with installations of antenna-curtains. In 1994, as in metropolis, TDF two antennas known as " installed; toucan" , antenna supported by a control pedestal, allowing its rotation 360°, for France, for Swisscom.

The antennas diffused primarily until lately, RFI (Radio France Internationale), but its vocation was widened since 1986, with other diffusers, Radio Japan, International Swiss Radio (which had its own antenna), Radio China Internationale and lately the BBC, for its diffusion in the Caribbean and the Latin America.

Guyana is an ideal place for the diffusion in short waves, its position makes it possible to touch the whole of the American continent and the part western of the African continent.

History

On the communal territory one finds the Bagne of Annamites, where were off-set the Indochinese prisoners, about 1930.

Economy

This rural district has great farms called " abatis" (exploitation in denshering) and also of the breedings.
