Montreux-Castle

Montreux-Castle is a common French, located in the department of the Territoire of Belfort and the area Franche-Comté. It is administratively attached to the Canton of Fountain.
The village is located at the limit of the Département of Haut-Rhin to 14 km in the east of Belfort, at an altitude of approximately 350 meters. It belongs to the group of the Three Montreux with Montreux-Young person and Montreux-Old man, these two last being located in Alsace. The territory of the commune extends on 466 hectares, it is crossed by the Saint Nicolas's Day , river taking its source in the massive of the Vosges, close to Rougemont-the-Castle and by the railway Belfort - Mulhouse.
History
Montreux ( Münsterol at that time) is an old village since a document dating of June 2nd 962 and signed by the emperor Otton Ier confirms that its church depends on the Alsatian abbey of Andlau. The Château of Montreux was built shortly after the foundation of the Comté of Ferrette to which the village is pledged. At the end of the 12th century the lord of the place is the Werner knight of Montreux. The localities which depended at one period or with another of the seigniory, in addition to Montreux-Castle, were: Brittany, Chavannes-the-Large, Chavannes-on-the Pond, Cunelières, Foussemagne, Fountain, Grün-with-Valdieu the, Magny, Montreux-Young person and Montreux-Old man, Romagny (Haut-Rhin) and Lutran.In 1350 the field of Montreux is repurchased by the duke of Austria Albert II of Hasbourg, said Wise the († 1358), with his/her sister-in-law Ursule de Ferrette, girl of Ulrich III of Ferrette and Jeanne of Montbeliard, itself girl of Renaud of Burgundy and Guillemette de Neufchâtel. Thus Montreux, as well as most of the Territoire of Belfort becomes Austrian possession dependant on the castle of Delle.
As many other localities of the area, Montreux is devastated in 1444 by terrible the Écorcheurs which were pursued by Louis, Dauphin of France. The family of Montreux being itself extinct towards 1560, the stronghold échut with the family of Reinach which made Foussemagne, the chief town of the seigniory until in 1790. The border installation after the defeat of 1871 separated administratively and politically the three Montreux.
The current church of Montreux is modern, since it was devoted on August 30th 1953. There existed already a vault in 1352 and Montreux-Castle was attached to the parish of Montreux-Young person, depend on the diocese on Basle, until January 20th 1782 date on which the parish of Montreux-Castle was instituted and yielded to the archbishop's palace of Besancon. The village of Cunelières, whose inhabitants attended the church of Montreux-Castle since April 12th 1780, was naturally assistant to him. The vault Holy-Catherine was probably built at the 16th century to be used as tomb with the family of Reinach, lords of the places.
