Montpeyroux (toponym which means " Pierreux" mount; ), is a common French, located in the department of the Herault and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called the " Montpeyroussiens".
Geography
Village located at the border of two landscapes: the buttresses Calcareous S of the Causses and the alluvial plain of the Herault.
Dominated by its Castellas (250m) and by the Peak Baudille (847m), crossroads of various North-South/East-West transportation routes, drailles, ways salt, roads of Pilgrimage, near the Abbey S of Aniane and Saint-Guilhem-the-Desert, the strategic and geological situation of Montpeyroux determined its economic prosperity as of the Moyen-âge and continues still today.
Located at 38 kilometers in the North-West of Montpellier, leant with the Saint-Baudille Mount first buttress of the Cevennes, opened on the average valley of Herault, the village by its situation and its history, offers a tourist interesting and very accessible range.
