Montours
Montours ( Breton Montourz in ) is a common French, located in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and the area Brittany.
Geography
History
Montours would come from Latin Ursus .Montours is quoted as of 1163 in the Charte of Raoul II, baron of Fougères, which confirms the regular Chanoine S of the abbey of Rillé in the possession of the Dîme S of its Châtellenie of Valaines whose it makes them gift in 1151. It is of this time that date the foundation of the Prieuré of Montours given to the monks of Rillé by the baron of Fougères. The parish of Montours depended formerly on old évêché on Rennes.
In Valaines, a feudal mound remains on the site of the old strong castle destroys between 1600 and 1630. At the time of the reformation of 1676 - 1680, the only noble ground of the parish of Montours is the seigniory of Bonteville which concerns Saint-Brice-in-Coglès.
