Montluel

Montluel is a common Frenchwoman, chief town of canton of the Ain.

Population (2004): 6  505 inhabitants (the Montluistes ), including Cordieux. She belongs to the Lyons agglomeration . Surface: 40 km ² since the fastening of the commune of Cordieux in 1973. Density: 162 hab./km².

The village of Cordieux, located at the North of the city, has, since its fastening, the statute of common partner with Montluel. Its population is of 289 inhabitants (1999).

History

Institutions of the Old Mode

Seigniory of Montluel In 1033, the lords of Montluel had Montluel and most of Valbonne. In 1326, the lords of Montluel transmitted their heritage to the Dauphins of the Viennese, who passed in 1334, by way of exchange, and increased in consequence of happy wars, of the seigniories of Miribel, Borough-Saint-Christophe, Pérouges and Meximieux with the Maison of Savoy.

The Mandement of Montluel was composed of Balan, Béligneux, Beynost, Boisse, Bressolles, Charnoz, Dagneux, Jallieux, Montluel, Niévroz, Pizay, Holy-Cross and Saint-Maurice-with-Beynost.

The Chapter of Notre-Dame de Montluel , set up in 1530 per bubble of the pope Clement VII with the prayer of Charles III, duke of Savoy and Béatrix of Portugal. It included/understood the Saint-Nizier church of Dagneux, to which the church Our-Lady-of-Marsh had always belonged, as well as the churches of Saint-Andre-the-Bouchoux, Saint-Maurice-with-Beynost, and archpriests of Chalamont and Sandrans. It had Doyen, Archidiacre, Chantre, 5 canons and 14 prebendaries.

  • the Apothicairerie is an old pharmacy of the Jésuite S of Lyon installed in 1765 in the Hospice of the 18th century. It presents an earthenware collection of the 18th century and was classified Historic building in 1966.
