Montgeron

Montgeron is a common Frenchwoman of the the Essonne.

It belongs to the natural area of the Brie, and more particularly of the " Country " Brie Frenchwoman.

She integrated the Communauté of agglomeration of Sénart Val-de-Seine the December 20th 2002.

Personalities

  • Claude Monet, was invited to Montgeron by Ernest Hoschedé, businessman and collector, with the castle of Rottembourg (current establishment of reception of the religious community of the Girls of the Charity of Crowned Heart of Jesus). He painted the painting then there the Turkeys. These turkeys are one of the four compositions intended for the decoration of the living room of the castle of Rottembourg for Ernest Hoschedé.   • Georges Hatz, born in Montgeron the May 11th 1907, dead the May 12th 2007 with Rochefort, was the trainer of A.J. Auxerre of 1950 to 1952. It was arrived in Yonne after professional path well filled at Red Star, with Lille (team with whom he conquered doubled the championship of France of Division 1/Coupe de France in 1946), with Rennes, the French Stade and finally again with the Red Star. This former professional guard had chosen to continue his career with A.J. Auxerre in Division of Honor as trainer-player. Events

  • Montgeron was the departure of the first stage of the first Tour de France, in 1903. It is called " the capital of the Turn of France". The July 6th 2003, the town of Montgeron celebrated the centenary of the test by accommodating the 1st stage with the Alarm clock-morning. A plate was inaugurated this day.

  • the April 27th 1796 (8 Floréal Year IV), the Courrier of Lyon (mail coach) transports a considerable sum in assignats and books, intended for the pay of the armies of Italy. After a halt with the inn of Montgeron, four gangsters attack it " close to Lieusaint " , known as history, with the bridge of Pouilly, Green-Saint-Denis, on the road become the N6.
