Montespertoli

Montespertoli is an Italian commune of the Province of Florence in Toscane, one the most extended of, between the valleys of Pesa, the Elsa and Virginio.

Geography

With the hamlet of Baccaiano, in the valley of Virginio, is a natural aerated water resurgence of volcanic origin: Dell' Acqua Bolle .

History

It is quoted as of the 11th century on official documents. With the Quattrocento, it was a free commune before falling under the influence from Florence.

Economy

Since 1997, was promulgated the wine name of Chianti Montespertoli .

Festivals, fairs

Every year, of last Sunday of May to first Sunday of June, is held the Mostra Mercato del Vino Chianti organized by the municipal authorities with an aim of promoting the wine, product principal of local agriculture.
