Montchanin

Montchanin is a common French, located in the department of Saône-et-Loire and the area Burgundy.

Geography

It is halfway located between Creusot, city of the Métallurgie and Montceau-the-Mines, city mining.

It has a station TGV, located on the line Paris - Marseilles. One finds there the Canal of the Center, which enables him to exploit river tourism (" seven lock s" between Montchanin and Chagny)

History

Commune created in 1854 by dismemberment of the commune of Saint-Eusèbe.
It is called then Montchanin-les-Mines.
It will take its current name of Montchanin only in 1958.
