Montbronn
Montbronn is a common French, located in the department of the the Moselle and the area Lorraine. The Village belongs to the Regional natural park of the Vosges of North and of the basin of life of the Moselle-is.
Geography
Stretching its two long street S in the middle of a vast clearing, the large Village is located on the Western edge of the country covered.
History
The village of Montbronn, Mabrunnen of old the German Magan-Bruno : large the source, is mentioned as of 1150. It illustrates the abundance of the source S and the fountains which mark out the communal round of applause and undoubtedly constitutes one of the explanations to the many representations of holy Jean Népomucène in the village at the 18th century and 19th century.
This old village of the Lord IE of Bitche, stronghold of the church of Verdun and property of the lords of Lichtenberg in the middle of the 13th century, fact part since the 15th century of the grounds of the palatine . It is one of its vassal, the baron of Schœnberg, lord of Montbronn, which introduces here the Protestant Réforme in 1557, the village becoming an active center of Prosélytisme in the Pays of Bitche. In 1623, the village is bought with the Elector Palatine by the duke Henri II of Lorraine and is yielded to his/her niece Henriette, future princess of Lixheim. The village turns over to the duchy only in 1702, while preserving its statute of Enclave. Until the Revolution, the locality concerns the Baillage of Lixheim.
Administration
From the administrative point of view, the village belongs to the canton of Lemberg of 1790 with 1802, before being attached to that of Rohrbach in 1802.
Demography
The Population increases regularly, cash 1280 inhabitants in 1817 and 1797 in 1851. It remains stationary since the beginning of the 20th century but the Recensement of 1982 still gives a report on 1743 inhabitants.
Places and monuments
- the parish church, dedicated to holy Georges and rebuilt between 1893 and 1896 in the style basilical.
- the lintel of the House of a Marshal-shoeing, located 9 rue du general de Gaulle and built at the end of the 18th century or at the beginning of the 19th century. The lintel is due to the one of the workshops of the village close to Rahling. Between two grosses Fleur S are illustrated her Outil S (bad temper-pief, paring-iron, clippers and hammer as well as the Horseshoe, symbol of the profession.
- the firm located at Allied 33 rue des , dating from the years 1830 - 1840, is known as house Salladin because she is inhabited and undoubtedly even built by this family of sculptors established in the village. In the years 1830, they emigrate in North America and make stock in the New Jersey. Traditional in its structure, the firm is characterized by the Sculpture from the carries Piéton. Two columns bent with Barrel Monolith plated on the Casing, but without architectonic function, confer on this one a monumental pace, still accentuated by heavy a Décor carved: vegetable elements , Acanthus S, Piastre S, Garland S, Chérubin S and reasons rubble, distributed with much freedom.
