Montbron is a common French, located in the department of the Charente and the area Poitou-Charentes.

History
These places were inhabited as of the Préhistoire as testify to it cranium (present at the Musée of the Man to Paris) like various human bones and human achievements found in the cave to Montgaudier (distant of 2 km) and visible in the museum of the old castle of Montbron . The history of the borough starts with a frank soldier: Berulfi which gives its name to the fort installed on the monticule overhanging and keeping a loop of the Tardoire (affluent of the Charente) and thus becomes Monte Berulfi.

- Fontanaud François was born on December 10th, 1883 in Montbron. This Soldier of 63e IH, 5th Co, was shot for the example on April 20th, 1915 with Flirey, following the collective refusal of his company to go back to the attack, on April 19th, of the peak of Death-Pond (600 died in three days). He was rehabilitated in 1934 with his companions of misfortune of which Felix Baudy. The Fusillés for the example of Flirey are added to those of Vingré, Fontenoy, Fleury, Mouilly, Montauville… In four years, 2.400 " Hairy " will have been condemned to died and 600 carried out, the others seeing their sorrow commuted to forced labors.
