Montbard
General information
Montbard is a common French, chief town of district, sub-prefecture of the department of the Coast-with Or attached to the area Burgundy.It is twinned with Couvin in Belgium and Ubstadt-Weiher in Germany.
Its inhabitants is Montbardois .
Geography
is located at the North-West of Dijon, it is crossed by the Brenne and the Canal of Burgundy. Its station is served by TGV Paris - Dijon, which connects it to Paris in one hour.

Etymology
The site of Montbard is a small mount which bars the valley of Brenne. However, the etymology of the name remains dubious.
History
The site of Montbard is occupied as of the Antiquité.
At the time of the Gallic, Montbard shelters a community of Druide S. With the Middle Ages, it is an important city laying out of sound strong Château. In 1070, Aleth, the mother of saint Bernard is born to with it. In 1231, it is set up with the row of commune. It is then a place of frequent stays of the Valois Dukes of Burgundy. In 1590, it is besieged by the count de Tavannes, lieutenant of Henri IV, which fights the duke of Nemours. In 1707, the naturalist Georges-Louis Leclerc, Count de Buffon, are born to with it.
