Montauville

Montauville is a common French, located in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the area Lorraine.

Geography

Is at the level of Pont-à-Mousson not far from Nancy, in Lorraine, in Meurthe and the Moselle. The inhabitants of Montauville is called the montauvillois.

The two soldiers Camille Way and Edouard Pillet of the 37e of colonial infantry are shot close to Montauville for desertion. It is about a misunderstanding. Indeed, the bags left by the infantrymen during an attack were plundered. The two men are designated to keep them in order to avoid the flights. In June, at the time of an attack with the new captain that Ci regards them as missings with the face whereas they were with the back with the bags. 37e RIC makes then movement and Chemin and Pintail reinstate the regiment. The colonel regards them as deserters and the two soldiers are translated on August 4th in front of a council of war and are shot as of on August 5th.

They will be rehabilitated in 1934.
