Montauriol is a common French, located in the department of the the Eastern Pyrenees and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Montauriolencs.

Montauriol rises on a wooded hill of the solid mass of the Trap, dominating: in the West, the main road of Castelnaudary with Room-on-the Hers, and, in the South, a small shaded valley of poplars, pines and the ormeaux one. The Group including/understanding the Town hall and the School is placed in the center of the village. (Street of the Town hall about 1920)

Station at the village, the road, broadside of large trees, forms a pleasant walk.

In North, and on the culminating point of the village, the old Castle seigneurial and the Church are. On the Place, monumental Croix hones, surmounted French Cockerel of it, raised in 1776.

The produced fertile territory of corn, but, the alfalfa and a little wine. Firewood. Windmill, above the Castle. Sculptures on the lintel of the door of two houses, before and after the Town hall: On one one sees two lions faced with a heart enters and the date of 1827. On the other, two fantastic animals, with vase of flowers enters and the date 1862. These sculptures are the work of a mason of the country named Berquière.

The Castle of the former lords of Montauriol (Monteauriolo) is vast and comfortable residence, preceded by a garden, a very pretty park and surrounded by secular trees. Two square turrets, dismantled, flank the angles of the East and the South, Ancienne roasted window giving on the Church. Side of the North-West, the castle was naturally defended by a fast slope. Ditches, now filled, protected the others faces. This beautiful residence became the property of Mr. Lapasset.

The Church, of Romance origin, is of modest construction. The porch was added in 1812. Modern triangular bell-tower with three bells. In 1311, the Church depended on the Abbey of Lagrasse.
