Montalet-the-Wood

Montalet-the-Wood is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at approximately 20 km in the east of Mantes-the-Pretty and at 8 km in the North-West of Meulan.

Montalet-the-wood is included in the perimeter of the Regional natural park of French Vexin.

The name of “Montalet” would be an alternative of Mount Went, Germanic name probably of origin.

The inhabitants are called Montalboisiens

Geography

Located in the south of the French Vexin, Montalet-the-Wood is a small rural district with the undulating and partially wooded territory. It is bordering on Lainville-in-Vexin in the North-West, of Sailly in the west, Brueil-in-Vexin and Oinville-on-Montcient in the south and of Jambville in the east.

To the variation of the main roads, the commune is connected by departmental ways to the common neighbors.

History

  • Site inhabited as of the Neolithic time (tools in cut and polished Flints).

Church Our-lady: church of the 12th century, restored in 1846.
