Toponymy

The name of the common “Montaigu-la-Brisette” has a double etymology. “Montaigu” comes from its position in height (an acute mount), and “Brisette” comes from these hunters which, to find again their way, broke branches behind them.

Places and monuments

Church of the 13th century, with in the cemetery a curious Ossuary “with open sky” which appears former to the 15th century century, decorated statues of saints decapitated. In the west of the cemetery is the fountain Saint Martin's day, a small buried construction, built by our ancestors with the site where there would have been a fountain having virtues against the Eczéma. Excavations there were recently carried out and revealed the presence of a Gallo-Roman site which would date from the first century at the 3rd centuries.

Leisures
