Mont Blanc (1791)

The Mont Blanc was a linership of 74 guns of the Bold Classe serving in the marine Frenchwoman.

It was built with Rochefort, under the name of Pyrrhus in 1791. It was renamed Mont Blanc in 1793, before again changing name into 1794, to become the Trente-et-un May . It is under this name that it took part in the Third battle of Ushant in June 1794. In 1795, it was famous still, the Républicain before becoming again the Mont Blanc in 1796.

It took part in the Bataille of Trafalgar, under the orders of the Vice-admiral Pierre Dumanoir Pelley the October 21st 1805. Dumanoir ordered six ships of the avant-garde of the French fleet, with '' Formidable the '', '' Scipion '', '' Duguay-Trouin '', Mont Blanc , '' Intrepid the '' and '' Neptune ''. The attack of Nelson left these ships apart from principal confrontation and Dumanoir immediately did not carry out the orders of Villeneuve to enter the battle.

The November 3rd 1805, the British admiral Sir Richard Strachan, with the '' Caesar '', '' Hero '', '' Courageux '', '' Namur '' and 4 frigate S, beat and captured the remainder of the squadron.

The Mont Blanc was recovered by the Royal Navy and was renamed HMS Mont Blanc . It was used like tank as gunpowder starting from 1811, and was sold in 1819.
