Montéléger
Montéléger is a common French, located in the department of the Drome and the area the Rhone-Alps.
Geography
History
With the Middle Ages, the Tabellion S indicated Montéléger of the name of Montislagérii, which evolved/moved in Montélagier and Montélégier. These statistics recognize 644 inhabitants to him.
The castle of Montéléger was built towards the end of the XVe century or in the first years of the XVIe century. The Count de Montéléger, one of the last owners of the castle, endeavoured to restore it and embellish it.
The celebrity of the building comes from various incidents: it supported two seats, taken by the huguenots and was taken again by the catholics. The room of the kings devotes a royal visit, that of Henri III going up Comtat during the seat of Livron. A small piece of furniture points out that which the young lieutenant of the garrison of Valence used when it came to meet one of his conquests. This young lieutenant was to become, a few years later, Empereur because already " Napoleon bored under Bonaparte".
Today property of an institution, the Castle shelters a house for elderly under her terrace, from where one can admire in the south the countryside of Montéléger. Immense rooms with openings in arches give a majesty particular to the building.

Personalities related to the commune
Bernard Cathelin (1919-2004) is a French painter who was very attached the area drômoise and it immortalisé it in many paintings. He lived several years with Montéléger and is buried there. The village hall of the village of Montéléger was famous, in its honor, space Cathelin .
