Monster Magnet is an American group which represents at the beginning of XXIe century a fusion of the musical heritage several famous groups of the Années 1970, in particular Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, the Stooges, MC5, Grand Funk Railroad, Velvet Underground, and The Third Bardo. Their music which takes his roots in the seventies is thus a synthesis of heavy metal, of Space rock'n'roll and of Rock psychedelic and it is generally attached to the movement stoner .

The group is carried out by Dave Wyndorf , which ensures the song and the guitar. It constitutes the principal image of the group, as much on scene that on the videos clip. It is probable that its excessive personality (it was a time the spokesperson of a movement claiming ironically the legalization of the hard drugs!) maybe at the origin of various changes among the musicians of the group. In 2004, the formation included/understood the fantastic guitarist soloist ED Mundell (in addition leader until 2004 of a parallel group, the power trio The Atomic Bitchwax) and Phil Caivano , third guitarist (who left the formation in 2005), Jim Baglino with low, and Michael Wildwood replaced then by Bob Pantella with the battery.

In spite of a growing reputation forged at the time of the multiple North-American and European concerts, the success of the group really started only in 1998, with the title Space Lord , on the album Powertrip .
